L’aumento dell’età media della popolazione ha reso necessaria l’attenzione alla salute e alle problematiche sociali della terza e quarta età, in particolare alle diagnosi di demenza. Non essendo al momento possibile guarire dalla malattia, sono presenti numerose ricerche volte a individuare interventi non-farmacologici per un miglioramento della qualità di vita. Alcuni studi, sebbene poco numerosi, hanno individuato i giochi da tavolo come strumenti di stimolazione cognitiva e promozione del benessere per le persone con diagnosi di demenza. La raccolta di dati che viene qui presentata, ancora nella forma di studio-pilota, suggerisce di approfondire lo studio sul ruolo dei giochi da tavolo per la promozione del benessere della persona con diagnosi di demenza, tenendo particolarmente in considerazione il ruolo dei moderni giochi da tavolo e il coinvolgimento del personale del settore socio-educativo per la conduzione dell’attività. Implicazioni per la ricerca e la pratica assistenziale saranno discusse.
